Key Concept 8.1: The United States responded to an uncertain and unstable postwar world by asserting and attempting to defend a position of global leadership, with far-reaching domestic and international consequences.

Topic: Eisenhower and The Cold War; 1950s
  • United States emerged as a world power and had to deal with the domestic and international consequences of this reality. Postwar prosperity and the Baby Boom followed but so did an era of the expansion of communism and containment policies (WOR4) (WOR7) WOR8)
